At Gateway Church, we want to help people move from curiosity to faith, from faith to growth, and from growth to purpose.
Whether you are exploring Christianity, beginning to follow Jesus, returning to faith, or looking for your next step, this pathway can help you know where to begin.
You do not need to take every step at once. Start where you are, and keep walking with Jesus.
Each step is designed to help you keep moving forward with Jesus, one faithful step at a time.
You may be exploring faith, asking questions, or wondering if there is more to life.
This is a good place to begin.
You can ask honest questions. You can pray a simple prayer. You can read about Jesus. You can visit church. You can talk with someone. You do not need to pretend you have everything figured out.
A simple prayer could be:
God, if You are real, help me know You. Show me who Jesus is. Lead me toward truth. Amen.
Read: Jeremiah 29:13
The most important step is placing your faith in Jesus.
Believing in Jesus means trusting Him as Saviour and choosing to follow Him as Lord. It means receiving God’s grace, turning toward Him, and beginning a new life with Him.
This is not about having every answer. It is about trusting Jesus and taking the next step with Him.
If you are ready to begin following Jesus, you can pray honestly:
Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God. I believe You died and rose again to rescue me. Forgive me, make me new, and help me follow You. Amen.
Read: John 3:16–17
Prayer is simply talking with God.
You can thank Him, ask for help, confess your struggles, share your questions, and listen for His leading.
Prayer does not need to be polished or complicated. God welcomes honest words from a sincere heart.
A simple prayer could be:
God, help me know You more. Teach me how to follow Jesus. Guide my heart, my thoughts, my choices, and my next step. Amen.
Read: Matthew 6:9–13
The Bible helps us know who God is and how to follow Jesus.
If you are new to the Bible, a great place to begin is with the Gospel of John or the Gospel of Mark. These books help us see the life, teaching, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
You do not need to understand everything right away. Read slowly. Ask questions. Invite God to speak through His Word.
As you read, ask:
- What does this show me about God?
- What does this show me about Jesus?
- What does this teach me about faith?
- What might God be inviting me to do?
Read: John 1:1–14
Faith grows best in community.
God did not design us to walk alone. We need worship, encouragement, friendship, prayer, accountability, and people who will help us keep following Jesus.
A simple next step could be attending Sunday worship, introducing yourself to someone, joining a Life Group, or reaching out to ask a question.
At Gateway Church, we want to help you find a place to belong, grow, and be encouraged.
Read: Acts 2:42–47
Baptism is a public declaration that you belong to Jesus.
It is an outward sign of an inward grace. It tells the church family and the world that you have received God’s grace and want to follow Jesus with your life.
If you have decided to follow Jesus, baptism is an important next step of faith and obedience.
You do not need to have everything figured out before being baptized. Baptism is not a declaration that you are perfect. It is a declaration that you belong to Jesus.
Read: Matthew 28:18–20
Following Jesus is a lifelong journey.
Growth happens through prayer, Scripture, worship, community, serving, generosity, forgiveness, and daily obedience to God.
Some things may change quickly. Other things may take time. God is patient, faithful, and committed to shaping you by His grace.
You are not called to grow in your own strength. The Holy Spirit helps you become more like Jesus.
Read: Colossians 2:6–7
God has given you gifts, experiences, compassion, and a story that can bless others.
Serving is one way we reflect Jesus, build up the church, and love our community.
You do not need to wait until you feel like an expert. Serving often begins with simple faithfulness: helping, welcoming, praying, encouraging, showing up, and using what God has placed in your hands.
At Gateway, there are many ways to serve, both visible and behind the scenes.
Read: 1 Peter 4:10–11
Your story can encourage someone else.
You do not need to have every answer to share what Jesus is doing in your life. You can speak honestly, humbly, and lovingly.
Sharing your faith may look like telling your story, inviting someone to church, praying for a friend, answering a question, or simply living in a way that reflects the hope of Jesus.
Faith is not only something we receive. It is something we share.
Read: 1 Peter 3:15
The Next Steps Pathway for you could look like:
Seek → Believe → Pray → Read → Connect → Baptism → Grow → Serve → Share
You do not need to take every step at once or in at that order.
Just take the next faithful step.
If you are not sure where to begin, we would be honoured to walk with you.
