Membership
At Gateway, members are those who are committed to:
1. Honour and submit to the leadership of our pastors and elders:
Hebrews 13:17 (CEV): "Obey your leaders and do what they say. They are watching over you, and they must answer to God. So don’t make them sad as they do their work. Make them happy. Otherwise, they won’t be able to help you at all."
1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 (CEV): "My friends, we ask you to be thoughtful of your leaders who work hard and tell you how to live for the Lord. Show them great respect and love because of their work. Try to get along with each other."
1 Timothy 5:17 (CEV): "Church leaders who do their job well deserve to be paid twice as much, especially if they work hard at preaching and teaching."
1 Peter 5:1-4 (CEV): "I beg you to take care of the church leaders who are given the responsibility to watch over you. Treat them with great respect and honour because of the work they do. Keep on doing this so that they will be happy to help you, and it won’t be hard for them. It will be of no benefit to you if they are not happy."
2. Be faithful with tithes and offerings:
Malachi 3:10 (CEV): "I am the Lord All-Powerful, and I challenge you to put me to the test. Bring the entire ten percent into the storehouse, so there will be food in my house. Then I will open the windows of heaven and flood you with blessing after blessing."
Proverbs 3:9-10 (CEV): "Honor the Lord by giving him your money and the first part of all your crops. Then you will have more grain and grapes than you will ever need."
2 Corinthians 9:6-7 (CEV): "Remember this saying, 'A few seeds make a small harvest, but a lot of seeds make a big harvest.' Each of you must make up your own mind about how much to give. But don’t feel sorry that you must give and don’t feel that you are forced to give. God loves people who love to give."
Luke 6:38 (CEV): "Give to others, and God will give to you. Indeed, you will receive a full measure, a generous helping, poured into your hands—all that you can hold. The measure you use for others is the one that God will use for you."
Proverbs 11:24-25 (CEV): "The Lord blesses everyone who freely gives food to the poor. You can never get too poor by giving away."
Matthew 6:19-21 (CEV): "Don’t store up treasures on earth! Moths and rust can destroy them, and thieves can break in and steal them. Instead, store up your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy them, and thieves cannot break in and steal them. Your heart will always be where your treasure is."
3. Be in a Life Group and/or Volunteer regularly to serve at the church
Acts 2:46: "Every day they spent much of their time together in the temple area. They also ate together in their homes. They were happy and sincere as they praised God and enjoyed the good will of all the people."
Acts 5:42: "Every day they spent time in the temple and in one home after another. They never stopped teaching and telling the good news that Jesus is the Messiah."
Romans 16:5: "Greetings to the church that meets in their home."
1 Corinthians 16:19: "The churches in Asia send their greetings. Aquila and Priscilla greet you warmly because of their work in Christ Jesus. They risked their lives for me. I am thankful for them and for all the churches that meet in their home."
Colossians 4:15: "Give my greetings to the followers at Laodicea and to Nympha who has a group that meets in her home."
We understand that due to work schedules or other personal reasons it may be hard to be a part of a Life Group, however, every member should volunteer at some capacity to help with the advance of the kingdom of God through the local church.
